South Yorkshire Energy Centre
Located at Heeley City Farm, approximately 1.5 miles from Sheffield City Centre, South Yorkshire Energy Centre is based in an eco-refurbished terraced house originally built around 1880. The centre demonstrates renewable energy and sustainable building materials and techniques and provides advice, training and awareness-raising for a wide range of users, from building professionals to individual householders and school parties.
The Centre is open to the public from Wednesday - Sunday, 11am-3pm, and for group bookings on Mondays and Tuesdays.
For further details, or to organise group visits, guided tours and consultancy at other times, please contact Nick Parsons or Vicky Moore at South Yorkshire Energy Centre.
Need an eco building?
Every time we run our timber-framed or strawbale building courses we produce the skeleton of a building up to 4m (12') square. We are running out of reasons to build small buildings on our site, so we need individuals who need a building. You provide foundations, materials, food and drink, and we construct the framework of the building. In the case of the timber-frame course, you get 3-4 frames and cross-members, ready for cladding and roofing. On the strawbale course, you get the walls built up to (single-storey) roof level.
If you need a shed or garden office, and have room for 10 - 12 people to converge on your garden for the day, please contact Nick Parsons for details.
